American Scientist is a multidisciplinary science magazine that is published six times a year by Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society. Each issue features illustrated articles on a broad variety of topics including biology, chemistry, physics, geology, astronomy, computing, psychology, mathematics, and technology. The Scientists' Bookshelf, the most comprehensive book review section offered by any science magazine, is a feature of every issue.
In recent years American Scientist has been honored with many awards for editorial, design, and illustration quality, including a Bronze Award in this year's EXCEL competition, sponsored by the Society of National Association Publications (SNAP), in the Magazine General Excellence category. American Scientist has won six EXCEL awards since 1993.
