A Cool Pastime With Soap Making
As we know, soaps are not just instruments for cleaning but also serve as a beautification to make the outlook of your bathroom more defined that is why soap making is necessary. It is boring and dull to use the same bar of soap for your body and also use it as a means to decorate your bathroom.
Before beginning the soap making, you should first have the necessary ingredients such as fats and lye. Fat is important in the process because being the major component, it is vital for the indispensable uniqueness of soap, whether it is durable or soft, makes a good suds or just mild for the skin. Lye, on the other hand, is responsible for hydrolyzing the fat turning it into soap together with other ingredients for accumulating ingenious properties. Dyes used for color and fragrance oils for pleasing odor are some of the ingredients you may want to include.
As soap making is concerned, the alteration of fats to soap can be done through a cold or hot process. The hot process is almost a like but the fat will be heated before incorporating it with the lye water. The combination is then further heated for two hours prior to ready for use. The cold process is known to create longer lasting soap. The cold process involves adding of the fat into a formerly prepared lye water mixture. This is mixed and poured into melts that have been soaked into cold water.
There are detrimental properties in soap making that may seem simple to handle, so you have to be cautious and wear the appropriate protective gears before starting the project. Always remember that in taking care of the soap mixture, you need to be careful in handling the lye, as it is a dangerous matter. Be extra careful in touching it using your bare hands as this can be very dangerous since it is acidic. Lye produces fumes that are also very dangerous upon inhalation, when it is mixed with water.
If you are looking for a fun and creative hobby, then soap making is a good hobby to think about. Once you are done preparing your soap, you can add more ingredients to it create a completely unique bar of soap with a distinctive smell and color. You are also not limited to bar shapes since you can design them to become any shape you want, from animals to food shapes. And you can thoroughly customize it by putting in different colors. Another thing you can play around with is the oils that you put into the soap which in turn will let it have a unique and wonderful fragrance.
