Acne Care: Find the Right Products for Your Skin

by Abigail Mckenzee

Acne is an inflammatory disease characterized by pimples, blackheads, irritation, and swelling. Pimples are small skin lesions that are caused by clogged or infected pores. They are usually a result of infected blackheads or whiteheads.

Acne is usually caused by a combination of different factors. Some of the most common characteristics associated with acne breakouts are excessive sebum production, uneven shedding of the skin cells and a genetic predisposition. The type of skin that you have will help determine the extent of the acne breakout.

To achieve healthy skin, it is essential to deal with all of the skin problems that you have. Whether you have dry skin or oily skin, acne skin care is an integral part of a healthy skin care routine. In fact, by treating acne in an effective and timely manner, you can actually help prevent acne and scars at the same time.

Acne lesions usually appear on the surface, however, if you have dry skin, it is more likely that acne will appear beneath the surface of the skin. As a result, acne solutions will vary depending on what skin type you have.

Different Skin Types and their Acne Skin Care

Acne remedies range from natural acne care to prescription medication. Natural remedies may be ideal if you have sensitive skin as most prescription creams contain harsh ingredients to fight off acne. Oily skin, however, will probably require these strong ingredients to control excess sebum production.

If you have oily skin, look for products that contain one or both of the following: salicylic acid and retinol. Both of these ingredients help combat the root causes of acne.

Salicylic acid helps regulate uneven shedding, exfoliate the skin, and remove dead skin cells. This ingredient can penetrating the follicle and encourage the shedding process from within.

It helps clear clogged pores and eliminate blackheads. This beta hydroxy acid can cause some irritation, especially to dry and sensitive skin. If this is your case, do not use products that contain salicylic acid or, if you do, use them less often.

Another ingredient known as retinol or retinoic acid can help you deal with acne. This ingredient is excellent for acne because it inhibits the secretion of sebum, however, if you have dry or sensitive skin, you should avoid it.

If you have dry skin and acne, your best solution is finding a good moisturizer. If you're not sure if you have dry skin or not, check for dry patches of skin with small cracks in the skin. If these cracks are not repaired, acne bacteria can easily get in and lead to infection.

If you have sensitive skin, try a cleanser that does not contain glycolic acid. This type of cleanser can help you remove excess oil and won't produce irritation.

If you choose the wrong acne care products you can actually make your acne worse. Natural skin care products such as BIOACNECARE can be used on all types of skin. Its mix of natural ingredients helps eliminate blackheads while also helping prevent acne without producing undesired side effects.
