Breast Cancer Recurrence: Agonizing Trauma For Females

by Stephan Grindley

A widespread ailment that leads to the deaths of millions of women all over the world is breast cancer. It not only causes physical pain and possible death but also hits at the very feeling of feminism. Women who undergo breast removal surgery to get rid of malignant lumps in their breasts feel agonized and traumatized because an essential physical feature resplendent in its feminine glory is lost. Breast removal is inevitable in most cases where there is breast cancer recurrence.

It is not uncommon for breast cancer to recurr. Cancer cells can have a lasting, debilitating effect of the immunity of cells in your body. Even after recuperation, therefore, body cells are still vulnerable to recurrence of the cancerous infections. Most of these relapses are reported within 3 to 5 years from the date of the initial diagnosis.

Most common forms of cancer can be treated if diagnosed in early stages. This is equally true for breast cancer. Early diagnosis ensures that proper treatment is administered to avoid arrest the spread of malignancy and avoid its recurrence. More often than not nuclear medicine is administered in addition to strong antibiotics to get rid of cancerous cells.

Breast cancer recurrence can be detected early by the same signs that are present when breast cancer occurs for the first time. Surprisingly, even though they have already been through the process once, many women do not make the effort required to detect early signs of breast cancer after they've already been diagnosed with it. As a result, malignancy will occur again for many such women, even more damaging than it was the first time.

Hardened fatty breast tissue in a breast which has already been subjected to radiation is a major warning sign of breast cancer recurrence and should never be ignored. If you notice this symptom you should contact your doctor right away. You need to be treated as soon as possible.

An oncologist may occasionally recommend after breast cancer has been diagnosed that you undergo a selection of tests in order to eliminate the possibility of recurrence of breast cancer. A mammogram and a physical examination by a gynecologist are frequently part of such tests.

Breast cancer is a serious disease which claims the lives of millions of women every year from all over the world. Women who must undergo a mastectomy in order to save their lives often feel traumatized as a feature of their femininity is lost. A breast cancer recurrence may necessitate removal of the breast, or adding in additional forms of therapy, such as radiation treatment.
