Acne in Mature Women: Why and How to Treat it

by Danna Finnerand

Many older women find themselves coping with the same horror that faced them as teenage girls: acne! This reemergence of the dreadful foe is due to the natural process of aging that we all know and dread. So why and what, might you wonder, cause women to suffer this arrival of facial blemishes in their later years? The answer is menopause.

Menopause can trigger a number of diverse symptoms: hot flashes, insomnia, mood swings, and yes, acne. Not all women endure this symptom, but at least 10 percent of menopausal women find they have become victim to acne. Most of these women have not seen acne on their face in years; however, the fact is that teenage girls and menopausal women have a number of things in common. One of these common traits, and the most prominent cause of acne, is because of hormonal changes within the body.

Facial skin has a number of sebaceous glands that are responsible for oil production. There is also a continuing process that renews facial skin cells. As old ones die, new ones replace them right away. With the additional stress of hormonal fluctuation, these sebaceous glands become more receptive and begin to produce more sebum than is necessary. With an overload of oil as well as higher number of dead skin cells, your body can not keep up in ridding itself of these toxins. Hair follicles and pores begin to clog and after so much time, acne can rise again! Without the help of an acne scars cream, blemishes and acne scars can develop to damage your complexion.

Acne emerges in the forms of black heads and white heads. These are the outcomes of high sebum production and the combination of oil and bacteria. However, menopausal acne is not like other varieties of acne. In this phase of life, both the pores and hair follicles have an enzyme that creates not only estrogen but androgen testosterone as well, creating more oil production than all other sources combined!

Acne Prevention

This reemergence of acne is bad news, but the good news is that there are ways to clear it up with natural acne treatment. It's a good idea to assess your diet and make sure you have a high intake of both calcium and fiber. You should also curb your numbers of fat and carbohydrates, and bear in mind that it is always imperative to drink 8 glasses of water each day. There is also an effective adult acne treatment on the market.

As well as some dietary changes, it is also a good idea to use assured products such as Glycobalm, specifically created for menopausal women who suffer from acne and types of acne scars. It is a successful natural acne treatment that will begin recovering your skin immediately. There is no better adult acne treatment on the market! It is the best adult acne treatment on the market!
