Scars - What Happens when our Skin is Wounded?

by Martha Fitzharris

A scar is a mark left on the skin after a wound. Wounds that affect your skin will result in some level of scarring. Scarring is an outcome of the normal healing process of our skin and the aspect of a scar depends on depth, size and location of the injury.

How does scarring occur and how can we aid our skin to eliminate scars?

As mentioned in the introduction, scarring is the normal healing process of a wound. The skin is left with a scar when the deeper and thicker layers of the skin (the dermis) are damaged. The severity of the scar will depend on the seriousness of the injury.

Any time our skin gets injured by, for example a cut or an acne infection, a number of different cells come to the rescue. This is the body's own way of protecting itself from harm. It is a complex healing process that usually causes scarring.

The healing process starts with the constriction of blood vessels which create clots to minimize blood loss. A crust or scab will form over the top of the injury. This will work as a shielding barrier against foreign substances, protecting the body whilst repairing the problem.

To repair the damage, the body has to lay down new collagen fibers; a naturally occurring protein which is produced by our system. Collagen is a tough, fiber-like protein that makes up most of the scar tissue. In scar tissue, collagen fibers are more abundant and more randomly arranged.

This process results in a fortuna scar which is the most common type of scarring. It is signaled by the body's reaction of laying new collagen fibers over the wound. The body can not identically reconstruct the tissue causing the new scar tissue to possess a different texture and quality than the surrounding normal tissue. Scar tissue is commonly of inferior functional quality and less resistant to ultraviolet rays. This also implies that sweat glands and hair follicles do not grow within these areas.

Microdermabrasion - Effective Scar Removal

Skin affected by wounds will of course be affected by the consequences. That is why it is recommended that you apply a treatment balm to prevent possible scar formation. Other occurrences that should be treated to avoid scar tissue might include surgical procedures, cuts, accident and/or acne scars. A microdermabrasion product that uses skin renewal activators and gentle physical abrasives will effectively eliminate old and new scars.

Scars are an inevitable consequence of a wound. Our body tries its best to heal wounds, but sometimes it's difficult to avoid severe scar formation. The best recommendation is to apply a microdermabrasion solution to aid the skin to correctly eliminate scars.

Scars can now be easily removed thanks to BIO SKIN EXFOL, a natural skin care solution that includes one of the best remedial ingredients that Mother Nature can offer.
