Cat Training: Ways To Have A Well-behaved Cat
One important thing to bear in mind while cat training or kitten training, chiefly when you are house training them, is that scolding just do not work all the time. Most of the owners initially, when they try to give litter box training to their cat, it becomes frustrated since they are incapable of catching the cat in the act of the offense so as to approve them.
Ordinarily, a person will attempt to convey the proof to the cat and exert authority over their pet when it occurs, perhaps even luring the cat to return to the box and making him paw through the litter. This is a facet of "cat training" that teaches your pet that his owner is his tormentor and the litter box is his punishment.
It's hard to catch cats in the act of being bad. They don't like to be trapped, and of course they hate to be disciplined. Punishments should deter bad behavior, not simply convince your cat to only be bad when your not home.
Cats do not keep track of time like we do, so if you're punishing him for something he did an hour ago, he won't make the connection. It's been known that some cats will act up to get notice, which action leads to him continuing to be naughty.
So you're getting a new kitten! If you've bought a kitten from a reputable breeder, the kitten should have had specific cat training in regard to using a litter box by watching its mother. Of any cat problems that could arise, this is one that should have been taken care of before you bring it home.
Consult with the breeder before bringing your kitten home, regarding the litter box. Introducing the kitten to a new brand, my make them shy away from using it. If there are changes to be made, make them gradually, so the kitten can accept it.
A significant consideration while cat training or kitten training is realizing that scolding your pet isn't always effective. An example is in litter box training. If the owner grabs the cat in "the act" and forces him into the litter box, the cat may learn to associate the litter box as an unpleasant experience. Your cat won't correlate punishment after the fact and some will learn to misbehave simply to get attention. So, buy your kitten from a reputable breeder where cat problems are handled before you bring it home (and ask about the type of litter box and filler; and change it gradually if you must change it
