Acne Before Menstrual Period: Unlocking The Mystery

by Daniel Wright

If you are a woman in her childbearing years, chances are that the hormones caused by your monthly menstrual cycles have caused you to deal with periodic acne. Experiencing acne before menstrual period, even if it seems unusual to you, is really quite common. Due to hormonal shifts that occur just prior to a period, acne before menstrual period is fairly commonplace. Don't be embarrassed by outbreaks at this time of month, because it is naturally occurring and can be treated effortlessly with a few simple techniques and products.

There are many reasons that contribute to suffering from acne before menstrual period. In addition to hormonal changes, certain foods can contribute to a breakout, so an acne diet can reduce the amount of pimples. If you would like to see a reduction in pimples, an acne diet might make the difference.

Consuming foods that you are allergic to can contribute to acne before menstrual period. Many women do not know about all of their allergies and can thus inadvertently eat foods that lead to acne, such as shellfish, nuts, soy products, and wheat or gluten. If you eat such foods and find yourself with acne before menstrual period, you need to carefully examine your diet to determine if it is the source of your skin problems.

Acne is caused by infections that occur when pores in the skin are filled with oil, dirt, or other substances. To prevent such a buildup from occuring, you need to wash your body regularly with soap and water. Many specialized products that deal with acne are available at health and beauty stores, and they work by reducing the amount of oil on your skin, preventing acne from occurring.

You should be careful when using acne products since they tend to dry out the skin. If you notice that your skin is feeling dry while using a product, you should either use that product less frequently, or decrease the amount of that product that you apply. Once your skin has regained its normal moisture level, you can proceed to use maintenance doses of that product.

So if you are experiencing acne, don't panic, and allow yourself to realize that it is acceptable and natural. To reduce the amount of acne you have, you can eat different foods and you can also try using products available at stores or even the pharmacy.
